Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, Lei Jun, announced on social media platform X that the global versions of the company’s smartphones will feature Google’s Gemini AI. This move is likely aimed at boosting international sales.
For the Chinese market, Xiaomi will deploy its own AI, MiLM, as indicated in documents from Chinese regulators.
The first model to feature Google’s Gemini AI will be the international version of the Xiaomi 15, set to be unveiled in October-November 2024.
According to SCMP, integrating Google’s AI could provide a significant boost to Xiaomi’s global sales, as the company was ranked third in the worldwide smartphone market in Q2, holding a 14.8% market share, according to IDC.
