SpaceX is now offering its standard Starlink dish at a significantly reduced price of $199 in specific US states, thanks to its recently launched Regional Savings program.
Initially priced at $599 when it first launched, the V4 standard Starlink dish has seen a notable price drop. The Regional Savings program, introduced in June, initially offered the dish at $299 across 28 states. However, the company has further cut prices in select regions.
Residents of California, Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada can now purchase the Starlink dish for $199. In states like Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico, the price is set at $249. In other locations, the dish remains priced at $299.
According to a support entry on Starlink.com, the Regional Savings program can reduce the price of the dish by $200 to $300 from the standard $499 price. This discount is also applicable when purchasing from third-party retailers.
SpaceX is offering these discounts in areas where the network has excess capacity, aiming to attract more users. This offer applies only to the Starlink residential plan, which requires the dish to be used at a fixed location, not for mobile use. The residential plan is priced at $120 per month, plus the initial dish fee.
Although selling the dish at such a low price may incur losses for SpaceX, the company views it as an investment in long-term growth for its satellite internet service, which now boasts over 3 million subscribers. Analysts project that Starlink could generate $6.6 billion in sales this year, indicating the service’s potential for financial stability.
