Intel has canceled its Innovation event, originally scheduled for late September in California. During its recent quarterly earnings call, Intel announced cuts to both capital and operational expenses, which includes scaling back on industry events. As a result, the company has decided to either postpone or potentially cancel the Intel Innovation event for this year.
Although the event has been officially rescheduled to an indefinite date, the flexibility of the San Jose venue, where it was set to take place, may not accommodate Intel’s revised timeline. This raises the possibility that the event might not occur at all in 2024.
The Intel Innovation event was expected to showcase new processors, including Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake. Lunar Lake processors are particularly significant for Intel, being produced using the Intel 20A technology, which features RibbonFET transistors and PowerVia, an advanced power delivery system from the back of the silicon wafer. These technologies are also planned for use in the Intel 18A process. Arrow Lake, on the other hand, is notable for its new architecture, improved energy efficiency, and substantial performance gains for desktop PCs.
Despite the cancellation of Intel Innovation, the company plans to continue showcasing its innovations. Lunar Lake processors will be presented at the IFA 2024 exhibition in Germany next month. Intel will focus on smaller-scale events, maintaining its presence in the industry.
