Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake-H mobile processors, expected to launch later this year or early next year, will introduce a new configuration with three different types of cores, including two distinct types of small cores based on different architectures.
Like Lunar Lake, Arrow Lake will feature large Lion Cove cores without Hyper-Threading and small Skymont cores. However, Arrow Lake-H will also include small Crestmont cores, which are currently used in existing processors.
The older Crestmont cores are expected to serve as LP-E cores and will be located on the SoC die, similar to the setup in Meteor Lake processors. However, unlike Meteor Lake, where both LP cores and regular small cores are the same, Arrow Lake will feature different types of small cores.
The reasoning behind this approach is not yet clear, but it’s possible that Crestmont cores are more energy-efficient in low-performance modes.
