Chinese Firm Unveils Unique 180-Megapixel CMOS Sensor for DSLRs

Jinghe Integration and SmartSky have jointly announced the industry’s first full-frame CMOS image sensor with a resolution of 180 megapixels designed for high-end DSLR cameras. The new sensor, featuring a 2.77-inch diagonal, includes the PixGain HDR 8K mode, enabling video recording at 30 frames per second and providing an ultra-high dynamic range.

This sensor is compatible with various optical lenses and, according to the developers, is set to challenge Sony’s current monopoly in the high-end sensor market. Full technical specifications will be revealed at a later date.

Jinghe Integration specializes in semiconductor wafer production and offers clients technology processes ranging from 150 to 40 nm. The company plans to incorporate more advanced technologies into its products in the future.
