Apple’s upcoming Mac Mini redesign might eliminate USB-A ports, according to Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. The new, more compact Mac Mini is expected to begin shipping to Apple’s warehouses in September, with the higher-end M4 Pro model available in October.
The M4 Pro version is still set to feature plenty of connectivity options, including five USB-C ports (two on the front, three on the back), an ethernet port, HDMI, and a headphone jack, as well as an internal power supply. The redesigned Mac Mini could be as small as an Apple TV, signaling a significant shift from its long-standing design.
With its streamlined form factor, the new Mac Mini might bid farewell to USB-A, making it a truly modern device. Considering that the Mac Mini design has remained largely unchanged since 2010, this update is long overdue.
