Apple’s iPhone 17 Slim: The New Thin and Stylish Replacement for Plus Models?

Apple is rumored to unveil the iPhone 17 Slim in 2025, bringing a sleek, ultra-thin design to the lineup. This new model is expected to replace the current Plus versions.

As smartphone makers increasingly prioritize design, Apple seems poised to join the trend. Although the iPhone 16 series is set to debut this year, speculation suggests that Apple will introduce a new ultra-slim model, the iPhone 17 Slim, in the latter half of 2025. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that this device will feature a 6.6-inch display with a resolution of about 2,740 x 1,260 pixels, promising vibrant visuals while emphasizing a slim, stylish appearance over top-tier hardware.

The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to embody Apple’s vision of a “single slab of glass” smartphone, with minimal bezels and Face ID integration under the display. The device might also see a reduction or elimination of the Dynamic Island area.

In terms of construction, Apple is rumored to use a titanium-aluminium alloy frame, replacing the heavier titanium frames seen in current Pro models. Despite its sleek design, the iPhone 17 Slim is anticipated to be powered by the new A19 chip, with a high-end variant possibly featuring the A19 Pro chip. It will also include Apple’s latest 5G chip for enhanced connectivity.

The camera setup on the iPhone 17 Slim is expected to feature a single rear wide camera, marking a departure from the multiple-camera arrays on current models.

Replacing the Plus Models? While initial reports suggested the iPhone 17 Slim might be a high-end model, more recent information indicates it could replace the Plus models. Jeff Pu has hinted that the Slim will likely take over from the Plus model, while other sources, including The Information, suggest it could be a high-end variant priced above the Pro Max. According to 9to5Mac, the Slim will likely have lower specs compared to the Pro models and may serve as a more affordable option or a direct replacement for the Plus models.

As of now, all these details remain speculative, with no official confirmation from Apple.
